Wanted Murder Suspect Arrested in Baghdad

Baghdad: A wanted individual, sentenced in absentia to death for the murder of two people in Babylon, has been apprehended in Baghdad. The arrest was carried out by the Al-Qasim District Crime Control Division under the Babylon Governorate Police Command, with assistance from the Falcons Intelligence Cell operating in both Babylon and Baghdad.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Brigadier General Adel Al-Husseini, the Director of Media for Babylon Police, stated that the suspect had previously managed to flee the country following the crime. Once intelligence confirmed his presence in Baghdad, a specialized team from the Crime Control Division was established. This team worked in close coordination with the judiciary to gather information, monitor the suspect’s movements, and track his communications over a span of two months. These efforts led to the suspect’s capture while he was hiding in one of Baghdad’s neighborhoods.

The police have since transferred the accused to the relevant authorities for further legal proceedings.
