Baghdad: In a move that underscores his commitment to the people of Wasit, Governor Mohammed Jamil Al-Mayahi has officially resigned from his position. In his statement, Al-Mayahi expressed his respect for the families of martyrs and his dedication to the community he has served diligently. He stated, “Out of respect for the families of the martyrs, as they need a position that will heal some of their painful wounds, and out of loyalty to them and to the people of this governorate, which I served with my eyes and the sweat of my brow, sparing no effort at any moment of my service, I proudly announce my resignation to the Wasit Provincial Council.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Wasit Provincial Council convened for an extraordinary session today, during which they voted to accept Al-Mayahi’s resignation. This decision was made following Al-Mayahi’s submission of his resignation to the council, marking a significant change in the leadership of the Wasit Governorate.

Chairman of the Wasit Provincial Council, Ali Sulaiman, confirmed the council’s decision, stating, “The council voted unanimously to accept the resignation of the Governor of Wasit.” This unanimous vote reflects the council’s acknowledgment of Al-Mayahi’s service and their readiness to respect his decision to step down.
