Diyala: The Ministry of Water Resources announced the continuation of dredging operations on the Khuraisan River in Diyala Governorate to ensure water reaches Baquba, Bahraz, and the southern villages. In a statement, the Ministry said, "The Diyala Water Resources Directorate is continuing its dredging and cleaning operations on the Khuraisan River within the Bahraz district, with the aim of improving water flow and ensuring its delivery to water treatment plants, orchards, and villages located south of the district."

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry added that its staff are continuing to dredge and clean the river of waste and debris, as well as identifying the main obstacles hindering the work and finding appropriate solutions, in accordance with the approved plan. It noted that "the Khuraisan River is one of the main rivers in Diyala Governorate, with a flow rate of between 19 and 20 cubic meters per second. It supplies the city of Baquba and several surrounding districts and areas, in addition to the Bahraz district, making it one of the most important water sources supporting drinking water and the agricultural sector in the governorate."

The ministry called on citizens and relevant authorities to commit to maintaining the cleanliness of the Khuraisan River and to refrain from dumping waste and pollutants into its course. It emphasized that protecting rivers is a shared responsibility that contributes to preserving the environment and the river's beauty and enhances the efficiency of water delivery to all beneficiaries.
