Baghdad: The Iraqi Meteorological Organization has issued a forecast predicting that six governorates will experience extreme temperatures of 50 degrees Celsius in the coming days. This unprecedented heatwave is expected to affect various regions across Iraq, posing potential health risks and challenges for residents.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the organization released a statement highlighting that the weather from Wednesday through Saturday will remain clear, with consistent temperatures across the country. The forecast outlines a detailed breakdown of maximum temperatures for Wednesday, with Sulaymaniyah expected to reach 39 degrees Celsius, Dohuk 40, and Erbil 42. Other regions such as Nineveh and Kirkuk will see temperatures of 44 and 45 degrees, respectively.

The statement further specifies that Anbar is anticipated to experience 46 degrees Celsius, while Salah al-Din will reach 47. Diyala is expected to hit 48 degrees, whereas Baghdad, Karbala, Babylon, and Diwaniyah will face temperatures as high as 49 degrees Celsius. The most affected governorates, including Wasit, Najaf, Maysan, Dhi Qar, Muthanna, and Basra, are forecasted to record a scorching 50 degrees Celsius.
