Well-Executed Ambush Ends Counterfeit Currency Operations in Hilla


Hilla: The Organized Crime Unit, in collaboration with the Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism Directorate and detachments from the Babylon Police Command, successfully arrested two suspects involved in counterfeit currency operations in downtown Hilla. The operation followed comprehensive field surveillance activities aimed at dismantling currency counterfeiting networks.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Colonel Yasser Salim Witwit, Director of the Organized Crime Unit, revealed that the operation led to the discovery of counterfeit Iraqi dinars amounting to 30,600,000, alongside 19,100 US dollars. The confiscated counterfeit currency was intended for circulation, posing a threat to the national economy.



Colonel Witwit emphasized that the Organized Crime Unit in Babylon is committed to aggressively pursuing and dismantling networks involved in currency counterfeiting and manipulation. He assured that any attempts to undermine citizen security or destabilize the market would not be tolerated, affirming that the law will prevail against those who infringe upon it.
