Washington: The White House confirmed that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will not participate in the Ukraine peace talks scheduled for London on Wednesday.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, State Department Spokeswoman Tammy Bruce stated during a press conference, “Although the meetings in London will take place as scheduled, Rubio will not be attending them,” emphasizing that this decision is due to logistical issues in his schedule and not a reflection of the United States’ stance on the talks.

Bruce clarified that the US will be represented by Special Envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, who is expected to attend the meeting in Rubio’s stead. She noted, “We look forward to hearing his reports on whether we have made any progress in London.”

The discussions in London are set to be hosted by British Foreign Secretary David Lammy. This meeting follows a previous round of talks in Paris last week, where Rubio and US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff engaged with European politicians, including Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sepah.

It remains unclear whether Witkoff will also be present at the London meeting.
