Washington: The White House announced that US President Donald Trump will meet with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa on Monday, November 10.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, White House Spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt confirmed during a press conference that the meeting will take place at the White House. This marks a significant diplomatic engagement as the two leaders are set to discuss critical issues, including Syria’s potential participation in the coalition against ISIS.

Earlier statements by US Special Envoy to Syria, Tom Barrack, indicated that President al-Sharaa’s visit would involve signing an agreement to join the coalition against ISIS. The impending meeting follows a previous encounter between President Trump and President al-Sharaa in Saudi Arabia last May, which was the first meeting between a US and a Syrian president in over two decades.
