Bordeaux: Fires in France and Spain have forced more than 325,000 people to evacuate their homes, particularly near the city of Bordeaux in southwestern France, as well as in several Spanish regions. Local authorities in France stated that firefighters are continuing their efforts to control the fires, which have destroyed 240 homes, especially near Bordeaux. The flames are now about 15 kilometers from the city, and the Bordeaux region is facing a massive fire known as the “firestorm,” noting that this fire is among the largest recorded in France since World War II.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, in Spain, authorities reported the evacuation of approximately 60,000 to 75,000 people in the Madrid region, which is facing the worst forest fires in modern Spanish history, with the flames having consumed about 77,000 hectares. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro S¡nchez said that firefighters are doing everything possible to rescue residents and that “difficult hours” lie ahead for the country.

It is worth noting that the heatwave and drought that affected several regions in France in recent weeks contributed to the rapid spread of forest fires, while authorities continue to mobilize to address the difficult weather conditions.
