Doha: US President Donald Trump's Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, announced the withdrawal of the US negotiating team from Doha. This decision follows the response submitted by Hamas regarding the ceasefire proposal in the Gaza Strip.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Witkoff stated on the "X" platform that the team was recalled for consultations after Hamas's latest response. He indicated that the response "clearly demonstrates its unwillingness to reach a ceasefire in Gaza."

The envoy further mentioned that Washington will now focus on studying alternative options for the safe return of hostages to their homes.
