Berlin: Media outlets reported that Steve Witkopf, the US President's Special Envoy, will meet this week in Berlin with Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders to discuss a possible settlement to the Ukrainian crisis.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Wall Street Journal cited informed sources stating, "A meeting will be held this week in Berlin between US envoy Steve Witkopf, European leaders, and Zelensky."
The sources indicated that the meeting will be attended by French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The newspaper also noted that the phone call that took place on Wednesday between US President Donald Trump and the European leaders "was tense."
Sources present during the call said that "Trump asked his German, French, and British counterparts to pressure Zelensky to accept the terms of the settlement plan proposed by the United States."
