Basra: A woman assaulted the director and her assistant of a kindergarten in Basra’s Al-Zubair district after they denied admission to her daughter due to age restrictions. The incident occurred at the Al-Barjasiya public kindergarten when the staff refused to register the woman’s three-year-old child, citing non-compliance with the institution’s age requirements.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Director General of Education, Abdul-Razzaq Faisal Abdul-Hamid, issued a press release detailing the unfortunate event. The altercation left the kindergarten principal with a head wound, while her assistant sustained bruises to her hand. Abdul-Hamid condemned the attack, underscoring the importance of respecting educational staff and following established regulations and legal procedures.

An official complaint has been lodged with the security authorities, resulting in an arrest warrant being issued for the parent, who reportedly fled the scene. Abdul-Hamid assured that legal measures would be taken to safeguard the educational staff, highlighting the vital role that these institutions play in society and the necessity of protecting their personnel from future incidents.
