Workshop Highlights Economic Opportunities in Communications and Digital Transformation


Baghdad: The capital, Baghdad, hosted an expanded workshop on Wednesday, organized by the US-Iraq Business Council, in cooperation with the American Chamber of Commerce. The workshop was attended by a high-level economic delegation of 101 figures representing approximately 60 American companies operating in the energy, technology, and health sectors.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, during the inauguration of the workshop, Nawfal Abu Raghif, Chairman of the Communications and Media Commission, affirmed Iraq’s commitment to protecting freedom of expression and opinion and fostering a transparent competitive environment that ensures quality services and meets international standards. He emphasized the importance of adopting advanced oversight mechanisms to regulate the market in accordance with applicable law and approved media regulations.



Abu Raghif highlighted the need to balance freedom of expression, content regulation, and intellectual property protection while adhering to media pluralism in accordance with the constitution and the law. He expressed openness to experienced international companies, particularly American companies, which have a proven track record in economic development and the transfer of modern technology. He stated that “the next phase will witness qualitative opportunities in the fields of communications and digital transformation.”



The Chairman of the Commission also addressed inquiries and questions from representatives of American companies, focusing on work mechanisms, regulatory legislation, and facilitating procedures, in addition to prospects for future partnerships. He stressed the Commission’s welcome of all initiatives that contribute to supporting the business environment and technical development in Iraq.
