SANAA: The Ansar Allah group in Yemen announced that its air defenses successfully shot down an American MQ-9 aircraft over Marib using a locally-made surface-to-air missile. This incident, which marks the second drone downing in 72 hours, highlights the group’s ongoing military operations amid regional tensions.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the spokesman for the armed forces affiliated with Ansar Allah, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, stated that the aircraft was conducting hostile missions in the skies of Marib. He emphasized that this event is part of a broader military campaign referred to as “the battle of the promised conquest and the holy jihad in support of Gaza.” The group has asserted its commitment to continuing operations in solidarity with the Palestinian people until aggression ends and the siege on Gaza is lifted.

This development underscores the heightened military activity in the region and reflects Ansar Allah’s ongoing efforts to challenge foreign interventions. The downing of the MQ-9 aircraft is the 14th incident since the group initiated its current military campaign, signaling intensifying hostilities and raising concerns about the potential for further escalation.
