Baghdad: The 27th Baghdad International Book Fair will kick off on the second of next month. The Ministry of Trade announced that the event will be held from September 2nd to 12th, featuring broad local, Arab, and international participation, alongside numerous publishing houses and cultural and intellectual institutions.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ministry of Trade spokesperson Mohammed Hanoun highlighted the fair as one of the most prominent cultural and intellectual events in Iraq and the region. The event will see participation from publishing houses and cultural institutions from various Arab and foreign countries, while hosting notable cultural and intellectual figures, and attracting a significant public and media presence.

Hanoun explained that the fair serves to support culture and knowledge, enhancing Baghdad's position as a cultural and civilizational center. It also aims to stimulate economic and cultural activity and draw visitors from within Iraq and abroad. The fair supports the "Read" initiative, which encourages reading and disseminates knowledge among all societal segments, particularly youth and students, thereby promoting a culture of books and reading to build a conscious society capable of facing future challenges.

The Ministry of Trade will engage in the cultural program accompanying the exhibition, contributing to the enrichment of the event's cultural and intellectual content. This effort strengthens integration between cultural institutions and state bodies, supporting awareness and community development. Hanoun emphasized that the Baghdad International Book Fair, organized by Sada Al-Aref Company, serves as a platform for communication and cultural openness, demonstrating Baghdad's ability to reclaim its historical role as a city of science, culture, and thought.
