Baghdad: The General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring recorded a minor earthquake within Iraqi borders on Wednesday. “The earthquake was located approximately 43 kilometers northwest of Basra and had a magnitude of 3.2 on the Richter scale,” the Authority said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Authority added that the tremor was felt in areas near the epicenter, and further updates will be provided as they become available. The statement concluded with a call for citizens to avoid spreading rumors and to adhere to earthquake safety guidelines.
