BEIRUT: The General Union of Arab Journalists has issued a strong condemnation of what it describes as the ongoing crimes by the Zionist entity against journalists in Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine, urging global media and human rights organizations to take action and express solidarity. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the call was made during a press statement by Moayad Al-Lami, who heads the General Union of Arab Journalists. Al-Lami detailed the targeted attacks on journalists by the entity, emphasizing the critical role journalists play in bringing these actions to light internationally. "The union strongly condemns the crimes committed by the Zionist enemy against journalists in Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine," Al-Lami stated. Al-Lami highlighted the broader campaign of aggression, noting, "The Israeli enemy did not stop at launching its campaigns to exterminate civilians only, but also focused its crimes on journalists in the three brotherly countries, because journalists have a strong influenc e in exposing Zionist crimes and exposing them to world public opinion." The Union has not only voiced its condemnation but also actively called for a unified response from international bodies. "The General Union of Arab Journalists calls on all trade unions and international media organizations to expose this Zionist entity and condemn its crimes. It declares its full solidarity with journalists in the three brotherly countries and calls on all Arab countries to support them," Al-Lami added. Furthermore, the Union urged the Security Council and human rights organizations globally to denounce the blatant aggression and provide necessary protection to journalists facing these dire circumstances.
