Russian Consul General in Basra Submits Credentials to Iraqi Foreign Ministry


BAGHDAD: The acting head of the Protocol Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Counselor Ammar Muhammad Daoud, has officially received a copy of the credentials from Jamshid Boltaev, the new Consul General of the Russian Federation in Basra Governorate.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ceremony marks the commencement of Boltaev’s official duties in Basra. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in its statement highlighted that Boltaev presented his work plan for the consulate during the meeting. Counselor Daoud expressed the ministry’s commitment to providing full support and assistance to the consulate team, which is crucial for enabling them to effectively carry out their responsibilities in the region.

The relationship between Iraq and Russia has seen various phases of cooperation and diplomatic engagements, with the new appointment expected to further enhance mutual interactions at a diplomatic level, particularly in the economic and cultural spheres within Basra Governorate.
