Kurdistan Region Parliament Elections Set for October 2024


ERBIL: The Independent High Electoral Commission has finalized the schedule for the upcoming 2024 Kurdistan Region Parliament elections, setting specific days and times for both special and general voting sessions.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Commission released a detailed timetable for the electoral process on Tuesday. The statement from the Commission outlined that polling stations across the region would open at 7:00 AM and close at 6:00 PM. Special voting is slated for Friday, October 18, 2024, while the general voting will take place on Sunday, October 20, 2024. The announcement highlighted that there would be no extensions to the voting times, which will be strictly adhered to through electronic monitoring of polling station operations.

Further details from the Commission’s statement specified that voting would be conducted using biometric voter cards exclusively. In an effort to secure the integrity of the voting process, the Supreme Security Committee has decided to ban mobile phone
s and cameras within the polling centers and stations. However, exceptions will be made for media personnel at designated centers.
