Amman: Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi has accused Israel of undermining peace efforts and contributing to regional instability, emphasizing that Israel is not interested in peace with its neighbors.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, during a joint session with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan at the “Future of Palestine” conference, Safadi critiqued Israel’s role in the Middle East. The conference, titled “Global Diplomacy and the Future of Palestine,” was organized by Turkey and focused on the longstanding Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Safadi highlighted the political and moral failures of Israel in handling the conflict, stating, “Israel lost the war on the political and moral levels.” He further asserted that stability in the region can only be achieved through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Safadi added, “If the Palestinians do not have a sovereign state, Israel will not achieve comfort.”

The J
ordanian minister accused Israel of using destructive tactics in Gaza and expanding its aggression into Lebanon. “Israel only achieves destruction in the region and does not seek peace and stability for the countries of the region,” Safadi said. He detailed the dire situation in Gaza, noting that since September 30, no aid trucks have been allowed into the area, which has been heavily bombarded by Israeli forces.

Safadi also condemned Israel’s expansion of settlements in occupied Palestinian territories as a move that hinders peace efforts and violates international norms. He called for an immediate cessation of Israeli aggression, which he described as killing hopes for peace.

The conference comes at a critical time as Israel has intensified its military actions in Gaza and expanded its offensive to include Lebanon, targeting Beirut and attempting ground infiltrations in the south since October 7, 2023.
