DIYALA: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani emphasized the urgent need to complete major service projects on time during his inspection visit to Diyala province today.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister’s Office released a statement detailing Al-Sudani’s field follow-up on the sewage projects in Al-Khalis and the western region of Baqubah. During his tour, the Prime Minister inspected the ongoing sewage water projects, which are crucial for the local community’s infrastructure.

The statement highlighted Al-Sudani’s interactions with engineers and workers at the project sites, where he underscored the importance of adhering to the scheduled timelines for these projects. He noted that projects like the Al-Khalis sewage initiative are nearly complete and poised to pave the way for further service projects in the area.

The progress of the Al-Khalis project was specifically noted, with a completion rate of 90%. This project, managed by the Ministry of Construction, Housing, and Publi
c Municipalities, includes a comprehensive sewage treatment network intended to serve approximately 90,000 residents. It features a main treatment plant, multiple lifting and rainwater pumping stations, and an extensive network covering 113 kilometers.

Conversely, the second phase of the West Baqubah wastewater project is less advanced, with a 47% completion rate. Also under the purview of the Ministry of Construction and Housing, this project aims to significantly enhance local sanitation facilities. It is expected to serve around 300,000 people upon completion and includes several sewage and rainwater pumping stations alongside a 270-kilometer network.

Prime Minister Al-Sudani’s visit underscores the government’s focus on improving infrastructure and public services as a priority in its governance agenda.
