TEHRAN: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi emphasized the importance of maintaining regional peace and stability during a phone conversation with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres today. Araqchi warned that Tehran is prepared to “respond strongly to any Israeli adventure,” attributing potential regional insecurity to actions by Israel and the United States.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Araqchi urged the United Nations to fully utilize its capabilities to halt what he termed as “Israeli crimes” in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon. This statement comes amidst heightened tensions in the region, with Iran actively seeking diplomatic engagements to mitigate conflict.

In related developments, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baqaei highlighted Araqchi’s ongoing diplomatic tour, which includes stops in Jordan, Egypt, and Turkey. The purpose of these visits is to foster regional cooperation aimed at ceasing hostilities in Gaza and Lebanon.

Moreover, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard recently e
xecuted a significant military operation against Israel. On October 1, the Guard launched 200 ballistic missiles at various Israeli locations as part of Operation True Promise 2. According to Tasnim News Agency, around 90% of these missiles successfully evaded Israeli air defenses, striking their intended targets, including three major Israeli air bases: Navatim, Khatsarim, and Tel Nof.

This operation marked the inaugural combat deployment of the Fatah hypersonic missiles, alongside the Qadr and Imad missiles, which have ranges up to 2,000 km and 1,700 km respectively.

This military escalation follows a broadening of hostilities initiated by Israel on September 23, which included unprecedented airstrikes on Beirut and a ground incursion into southern Lebanon, actions that have drawn international and UN admonitions.
