BAGHDAD: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani inaugurated the rehabilitated Baghdad-Khalis Road project today within Diyala Governorate. The project, which is part of the broader Baghdad-Kirkuk Road Rehabilitation Project, aims to enhance connectivity and infrastructure in the region.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister’s visit to Diyala was part of a larger inspection to monitor the progress of various service projects in the governorate. The media office of the Prime Minister reported that Al-Sudani arrived in the governorate this morning and proceeded with the inauguration of the road that extends from the borders of Baghdad Governorate to Mustafa Jawad Square in Al-Khalis District.

The rehabilitation included the extensive work over a stretch of 64 kilometers, comprising two lanes with each spanning 32 kilometers, one going towards Baghdad and the other returning. The refurbishment, which cost a total of 42 billion dinars, also addressed conflicts with electrical grids and othe
r civil services, ensuring a smoother and more efficient roadway system.

This development is expected to significantly improve transportation and logistics between Baghdad and Khalis, fostering economic growth and facilitating better service delivery to the local communities.
