Baghdad: Head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, affirmed Iraq’s commitment to providing humanitarian aid to Lebanon, highlighting the strong bilateral relations with Jordan during a meeting with the new Jordanian Ambassador to Iraq, Maher Salem Al-Tarawneh.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the State of Law Coalition released a statement detailing the discussions between al-Maliki and Ambassador Al-Tarawneh. The meeting, which took place in Baghdad, served as a platform for both parties to express their dedication to fostering stronger ties and addressing regional challenges. Al-Maliki welcomed the Jordanian ambassador, conveying his best wishes for Al-Tarawneh’s new role and discussing the ongoing regional and international developments, including the situation in Lebanon and Palestine.

The discussions underscored Iraq’s close relationship with Jordan across various sectors. Al-Maliki emphasized the need to enhance these bonds to benefit both nations mutually. He also reiterated Iraq’s
support for Palestine and Lebanon, condemning the actions of the Zionist entity and holding the international community accountable for its crimes against these nations.

Furthermore, al-Maliki highlighted the importance of Arab unity in countering what he described as “Zionist arrogance,” urging governments to back the resistance forces across several Middle Eastern countries including Palestine, Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq, and Iran.

On his part, Ambassador Al-Tarawneh conveyed King Abdullah II’s greetings and underscored Jordan’s eagerness to expand cooperation with Iraq. He praised Iraq’s role in championing Arab issues and expressed Jordan’s readiness to improve coordination to promote regional stability.
