Al-Hakim Warns of Potential Regional Conflict Amid Gaza Tensions

BAGHDAD: The head of the National State Forces Alliance, Ammar al-Hakim, issued a stark warning about the potential for the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip to escalate into a broader regional war. In a meeting with Spanish Ambassador to Iraq Alicia Perez del Bolvar, al-Hakim discussed the current political dynamics in Iraq and the wider region, emphasizing the importance of Spanish companies contributing to Iraq's service and development sectors. According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Hakim highlighted Iraq's current state of stability, which he described as political, social, and security-based. He urged all stakeholders to maintain and transform this stability into a lasting condition. The discussions with Ambassador del Bolvar underscored the significance of bilateral relations and the potential role of Spanish enterprises in furthering Iraq's development. In addressing the situation in Gaza and Lebanon, al-Hakim reiterated his condemnation of the Israeli Army's actions, specifically referencing a massacre in northern Gaza. He called for an immediate cessation of hostilities in both Lebanon and Gaza, stressing the need for humanitarian aid, assistance for displaced individuals, and the reconstruction of devastated areas. Al-Hakim warned of the far-reaching consequences of the conflict spreading across the region, which he believes could undermine global security and international stability.
