BAGHDAD: The Ministry of Transport announced that Iraqi airspace remains open and that air traffic is proceeding smoothly, with a strong emphasis on maintaining the highest standards of aviation safety and security. According to National Iraqi News Agency, Abbas Al-Baydani, Director of the General Company for Airports and Air Navigation Management, noted that there is significant activity in air traffic as all airlines have returned to Iraqi airspace. Al-Baydani mentioned that the company has received numerous requests from international airlines via email in recent days, indicating their interest in joining Iraq's air navigation routes due to the safety and stability of the airspace. Al-Baydani detailed that airlines such as Qatar Airways, Royal Jordanian, Syrian carriers Cham Wings and Arab Wings, Egyptian Airlines, Middle East Airlines, Saudi airlines Flyadeal and Nas Express, the Russian airline Utair, and Air Arabia- which never ceased its flights to Baghdad- have resumed landing at Baghdad Internation al Airport. Additionally, flights from Flydubai continue uninterrupted. He further explained that Turkish Airlines, Santurk, and Eurowings have resumed operations at Erbil Airport. Basra Airport has also witnessed the return of Qatar Airways, Flydubai, and Turkish Airlines flights. The ministry highlighted ongoing air traffic through Iraqi airspace, with airlines including Qatar Airways, Air Arabia, Saudi Nas, Cham Wings, Syrian Airlines, Jazeera Airways, and Oman Air maintaining regular routes. Austrian Airlines has resumed flights to Erbil Airport, while the Omani airline Mazoon is operating flights through Iraqi airspace, landing at Baghdad Airport. In a statement, the ministry reassured all users of Iraqi airspace that they are committed to ensuring the highest standards of safety and security for air navigation, thus facilitating the smooth and safe flow of air traffic.
