Erbil: President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, emphasized the critical need for the swift formation of a new government to enhance stability and economic strength in the region, labeling it a pressing priority.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Barzani’s remarks came following the successful completion of the Kurdistan Parliament elections. He expressed his congratulations to the people of Kurdistan across all its components, highlighting the elections as a pivotal step towards reinforcing the democratic trajectory of the region. He praised the cooperative efforts that ensured a smooth electoral process, calling it a source of pride and a testament to the region’s democratic maturity.

Barzani detailed the significance of the elections in renewing the legitimacy of regional institutions and serving as a free platform for citizens to elect their parliamentary representatives. He commended the peaceful and competitive nature of the elections, which he said underscored the people’s commitme
nt to democracy and their rights in determining their destiny.

Furthermore, Barzani extended gratitude to the security forces, the Independent High Electoral Commission, the Iraqi federal government, and international bodies like the United Nations Assistance Mission, for their roles in facilitating the successful execution of the elections. He emphasized that the peaceful and civilized conduct of the elections was globally respected and viewed as a significant victory.

He reiterated the urgency of forming a government that can tackle current challenges and build a prosperous future, stressing the necessity for unity, solidarity, and cooperation among all political entities and community segments to achieve these goals.
