NAJAF: The Imam and Friday preacher of Najaf, Sadr al-Din al-Qabanji, issued a strong condemnation of what he described as Israeli disregard for human life and the silence from Arab and international communities in response. His comments were made during a Friday sermon, highlighting recent escalations and humanitarian concerns in the region.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Qabanji cited the dire situation at Kamal Adwan Hospital, where 150 patients and staff were reportedly trapped without oxygen, as a glaring example of Israeli actions witnessed globally. He also referenced the bombing of a press site in Lebanon, which resulted in the deaths of three journalists, as further evidence of the ongoing crisis.

Al-Qabanji further addressed statements attributed to the Israeli Chief of Staff regarding the potential elimination of Hezbollah leaders as a means to conclude the conflict in Lebanon. He argued that the martyrdom of leaders only strengthens Hezbollah and that Israel is now contemplating way
s to extricate itself from a conflict that threatens its own existence.

The sermon also touched on broader regional tensions, with al-Qabanji warning of a heated global atmosphere reminiscent of war, citing Israeli threats against Iran and potential strikes on Baghdad. He emphasized the resolve of his community, stating, “We are men of war and we do not fear death, and now we are more enthusiastic, steadfast, determined and prepared to defend our land, our religion and our values.”
