PARIS: Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Dr. Abdallah Bou Habib, engaged in discussions with US Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources, Richard Verma, at the Lebanese Embassy in Paris on Friday. The meeting focused on the United States’ pledged aid to Lebanon and explored potential solutions to the ongoing crisis in the country.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, the discussions centered on the next steps regarding the aid promised to Lebanon during the Paris 2024 conference. The talks aimed to determine how the United States could support Lebanon in addressing its urgent needs. Both parties also examined avenues for achieving a sustainable resolution to the Lebanese crisis.

The conversation included an assessment of the conditions necessary for the full implementation of Resolution 1701, which calls for the deployment of the Lebanese army in the southern region of the country. Additionally, the dialogue addressed the socio-economic impact of displacement within
Lebanon and the importance of resolving the ongoing presidential vacuum.
