ANKARA: Turkish intelligence has announced the successful destruction of 120 sites affiliated with the banned Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in northern Iraq and Syria. This operation is in direct response to a recent attack targeting the Turkish Aerospace Industries Company (TUSAS) in the capital city of Ankara, which resulted in the deaths of five Turkish citizens and injuries to 22 others.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Turkish intelligence revealed in a media circular that the strikes were carried out over the past three days, aiming to dismantle PKK infrastructure. The circular emphasized the commitment of Turkish forces to continue operations until the group’s activities are completely neutralized.

The announcement follows an armed assault on TUSAS, where two gunmen, identified as members of the PKK, were neutralized by Turkish authorities. The attack has heightened tensions, prompting Turkish forces to intensify their efforts against PKK bases, particularly those located in the Qandil Mount
ains in northern Iraq. The region is identified as a strategic base from which the PKK launches attacks into Turkey.

The Turkish government’s intensified military actions are part of broader efforts to eliminate threats from the PKK, which is regarded as a terrorist organization by Turkey. The ongoing operations underscore Ankara’s stance on maintaining national security and eradicating sources of terrorism within its borders and beyond.
