BAGHDAD: In a coordinated effort across three governorates, Iraqi authorities have arrested five individuals involved in drug and arms trafficking, including a notable international drug dealer. The Ministry of Defense confirmed the arrests took place in Baghdad, Babylon, and Muthanna, marking a significant crackdown on illegal operations in the country.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the arrests in Baghdad were facilitated by the intelligence and security detachments, who acted on precise intelligence information to apprehend two drug dealers. Among those detained in the capital was an international dealer, already the subject of arrest warrants under the provisions of Articles 27 and 28 related to narcotics offenses.

In Babylon Governorate, intelligence teams successfully captured two arms dealers, further extending the reach of the operation. Meanwhile, in Muthanna Governorate, authorities arrested another individual engaged in drug dealing, also under the authority of judicial warrants. These
arrests highlight the ongoing efforts by Iraqi security forces to combat the intertwined issues of drug and arms trafficking within the region.
