BEIRUT: The Islamic Resistance, known as Hezbollah, has targeted the settlement of Karmiel and the city of Safed with a series of rocket attacks, in what the group describes as support for the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. The attacks occurred on Friday, with missiles striking Karmiel in the afternoon and Safed shortly thereafter.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Hezbollah issued a statement declaring the attacks as acts of solidarity with Palestinians and a defensive measure for Lebanon and its people. The statement detailed that the bombardment of Karmiel commenced at 3:00 p.m. local time, followed by the assault on Safed at 4:15 p.m.
The statement emphasized Hezbollah’s commitment to supporting what it terms the “valiant and honorable resistance” of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. The attacks were framed as being part of a broader defense strategy for Lebanon against perceived threats.
The escalation comes amid heightened tensions in the region, with Hezbollah positioning its actions as
part of a wider regional conflict involving Lebanon, Palestine, and neighboring territories. The full impact of the strikes on Karmiel and Safed is yet to be assessed, as officials and residents respond to the attacks.
