Baghdad: Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil Hayan Abdul-Ghani Al-Sawad emphasized the government's commitment to advancing the energy sector to foster industrial and economic growth within the country. According to National Iraqi News Agency, Minister Al-Sawad made these remarks while chairing the ninth session of the Ministerial Council for Energy. The session, attended by various ministers and advisors, focused on topics pertaining to the Ministry of Oil and the Ministry of Electricity, encompassing 11 agenda items. The meeting culminated in the formulation of six decisions, which are set to be presented to the Council of Ministers for approval. One of the key decisions highlighted by Al-Sawad is the initiative to develop the Diwaniyah refinery, aiming for a capacity of 70,000 barrels per day. This project is expected to enhance the refining sector's production capacities for petroleum products, provide economic support to the governorate, and supply fuel to power generation stat ions.
