Tehran: The Iranian Foreign Ministry has categorically denied the recent allegations made by the US Department of Justice concerning the arrest of an individual associated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. This person was purportedly involved in a plot to assassinate President-elect Donald Trump, a claim which Iran has refuted in its entirety. According to National Iraqi News Agency, Esmail Baqaei, the Spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, issued a statement on Saturday dismissing these accusations as "absolutely baseless." Baqaei further labeled the allegations as a "disgusting conspiracy" aimed at implicating Iran in an assassination attempt on American officials, either past or present. He attributed these claims to "Zionist circles hostile to his country," suggesting they are an effort to further complicate Iran's relations with the United States. Baqaei emphasized that Tehran is committed to using all legitimate and legal avenues, both domestically and internationally, to safeguard the rights of its people. The statement underscores Iran's intent to counteract these allegations through appropriate legal channels. The US Department of Justice had earlier announced that an Iranian individual had been charged with receiving orders from Tehran to devise a plan targeting President-elect Donald Trump. The Ministry's statement indicated that this plan was allegedly orchestrated by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard as a retaliatory measure for the 2020 assassination of Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the Al-Quds Force in the Revolutionary Guard, by a US strike near Baghdad airport.
