Al-Sudani Leads Meeting on Restructuring State-Owned Public Companies.

Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani chaired a key meeting of the Supreme Committee for the Restructuring of State-Owned Public Companies, attended by ministers from various sectors including Oil, Electricity, Transport, Trade, and others. The focus of the meeting was to evaluate the steps taken by relevant authorities based on previous decisions and to deliberate on the liquidation and re-merger processes of several public companies.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister’s Office released a statement detailing the discussions, which included assessing the liquidation mechanisms for public companies and the supportive decisions for this process. The meeting also addressed the re-merger of certain companies under the Ministry of Trade and the reclassification of companies within the Ministry of Water Resources.

Progress was reviewed concerning the restructuring of companies such as Hammurabi, Ashur, Al-Faw, and Al-Farouq, which are affiliated with the Ministry of Constructio
n, Housing, Municipalities, and Public Works. Furthermore, the meeting culminated in the approval of the minutes and recommendations from the subcommittee’s second meeting, which oversees the classification of companies as per the categories outlined in Decision No. 1 of 2024 by the Committee for Restructuring State-Owned Public Companies.
