Hillah: An eight-year-old girl tragically lost her life today in the Al-Askari neighborhood of Hillah, when she accidentally shot herself while playing with a firearm belonging to her father. The incident has left the local community in shock and has once again highlighted the importance of firearm safety in households.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Director of Media for Babylon Police, Brigadier General Adel Al-Husseini, confirmed that the police received a report regarding the accidental death of the child. The young girl was reportedly playing with her father’s weapon when the tragic accident occurred.

In response to the incident, the police authorities have taken swift action. The child’s body was transported to a forensic medicine facility for further examination. Additionally, the father of the child has been arrested as part of the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
