GAZA: The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, has issued a warning about the impending famine in the northern Gaza Strip governorate. Lazzarini expressed concerns over the situation, stating that famine is likely due to deprivation of basic necessities, including food, for the people in Gaza. He highlighted the use of hunger as a weapon, attributing the dire situation to the restrictions imposed by Israel.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the aid currently entering the Gaza Strip is insufficient, averaging just over 30 trucks per day, which represents merely 6% of the daily needs of the Palestinian population. Lazzarini emphasized the urgency of taking action, calling for increased political will to enhance the flow of humanitarian and commercial supplies to Gaza. He urged for political decisions that would allow regular and uninterrupted entry of convoys into northern Gaza.

Additionally, the Famine Review Committee h
as released a report urging immediate action within days to avert a catastrophic situation. The report highlights the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, noting the depletion of flour and basic materials from both markets and homes. It also points to the growing crisis in the central and southern regions of Gaza, where people are resorting to using spoiled flour and searching for unhealthy alternatives to feed their families.
