Ankara: The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced the killing of three militants of the banned Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in an airstrike carried out by drones in northern Iraq.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Turkish Defense Ministry stated that a Turkish army unit stationed in the Kara region in northern Iraq detected a gathering of PKK militants in a rugged mountainous area. The situation necessitated the use of warplanes, and the subsequent raids resulted in the killing of three militants and the withdrawal of others.

The Defense Ministry further indicated that the PKK has a stronghold in the Qandil Mountains in northern Iraq. The group is active in many cities, regions, and valleys, launching attacks on Turkish areas from these locations. The Turkish army is reportedly working diligently to eliminate these sources of terrorism.
