Baku: President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid received the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, today at his residence in Baku, Azerbaijan. The meeting focused on regional and international issues, notably the aggression against Palestinian and Lebanese communities and exploring solutions to these conflicts.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the President commended the Grand Imam’s stance on the Gaza issue and emphasized the importance of using all available channels to halt the ongoing conflict. He highlighted the role of moderate discourse in resolving internal disagreements and fostering Islamic unity. President Rashid also reflected on Iraq’s resilience against terrorism and extremist ideologies, noting the nation’s efforts in defeating Al-Qaeda and ISIS while promoting tolerance and peaceful coexistence among its diverse population.

The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar expressed his gratitude to the President and reaffirmed Al-Azhar’s commitment to enhancing cooperation for regional stab
ility and the security and prosperity of its people.
