Baghdad: The Coordination Framework has affirmed that Syria’s security is intrinsically linked to Iraq’s national security, given the geographical proximity between the two nations. This assertion underscores the importance of maintaining stability in the region as a whole.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the media department of the Coordination Framework issued a statement following a periodic meeting held on Monday at the office of Mr. Ammar al-Hakim, attended by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani. The statement expressed concern over the current situation in Syria, particularly the occupation of significant areas by terrorist groups.

The Coordination Framework emphasized the interconnected nature of Syria’s security with that of Iraq, citing geographical proximity and extended ties as key factors. The statement also acknowledged the significant efforts by the Iraqi government and various security forces to ensure high alertness and preparedness in safeguarding the borders between the two cou
ntries.

Additionally, the Coordination Framework sought to reassure the Iraqi populace regarding ongoing developments, urging them to dismiss misinformation propagated through media and psychological warfare. The statement also commended the prudent stances of certain Arab, regional, and international governments that oppose violations of state sovereignty and the agendas of extremist forces backed by foreign influences.
