BAGHDAD: In a significant security operation south of Baghdad, the Baghdad Operations Command has seized a large cache of explosive materials and arrested four individuals. The operation, conducted by the 17th Infantry Division with intelligence support, is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle remnants of terrorist activities in the region.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the operation involved extensive searches and inspections in the area, leveraging precise intelligence to locate the cache. The explosives, described as damaged war remnants from the “defeated” ISIS terrorist groups, included a locally-made missile and 36 mortar shells. The four suspects were apprehended based on various legal charges, though details of these charges were not disclosed.

The Baghdad Operations Command emphasized the collaboration between ground units and intelligence agencies in executing the operation. The discovery and seizure of the explosives mark a critical step in reducing the threat of insurgent activities in the areas surrounding the capital.
