BAGHDAD: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani presided over the fifty-third regular session of the Council of Ministers, focusing on the country’s general conditions and prioritizing crucial government programs. The session also included deliberations on agenda topics, leading to decisive actions.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Prime Minister Al-Sudani responded to the urgent needs of Al-Sadiq District, located north of Basra Governorate. He mandated the allocation of funds for rapid service projects, the settlement of land for school construction, the establishment of a hospital, and the completion of critical road networks connecting the district to the governorate. Additionally, he instructed ministries to expedite the implementation of previous Council of Ministers’ decisions concerning Al-Sadiq District and surrounding areas north of the governorate.

The Council of Ministers, in its commitment to enhancing the country’s electricity infrastructure, sanctioned the Minister of Finance, or her representative, to finalize a financing loan agreement for the Ministry of Electricity’s combined cycle projects. This initiative is specifically aimed at the Kirkuk gas station and is backed by the US Export-Import Bank (US EXIMBANK). This move aligns with the Federal General Budget Law for the next three years and reflects Iraq’s energy cooperation principles.

In the oil sector, the Council approved the Ministerial Council for Energy’s recommendation to establish a new oil transmission line linking Basra and Haditha. This pipeline aims to enhance the country’s oil distribution capabilities with a proposed capacity of 2.25 million barrels.
