Amnesty International Urges Israel to Release Detained Health Workers

JERUSALEM: Amnesty International has issued a call for the immediate and unconditional release of detained health workers in Israel, including Dr. Hussam Abu Safia, the director of the Martyr Kamal Adwan Hospital in the Gaza Strip. The organization’s appeal comes amidst growing concerns about the treatment and detention of medical personnel in conflict zones.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Amnesty International expressed deep concern for the fate of Dr. Hussam Abu Safia, emphasizing the urgency of his release. The human rights organization stressed that all Palestinians who have been arbitrarily detained, particularly those in the health sector, should be freed without delay.

The statement also highlighted the pressing need for the international community to intervene to halt what it described as a genocide in Gaza. Amnesty International’s call reflects broader concerns about the protection of health workers who are often caught in the crossfire of geopolitical conflicts.
