BAGHDAD: The Presidency of the Republic has reiterated its appeal to political forces, social activities, and specialized organizations to ensure the accuracy of information before making public statements. It emphasized the importance of relying on official information and avoiding the dissemination of fake and misleading news.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, this call comes in light of an apology statement from Jamal Al-Karbouli, head of the Solution Party, following his provision of incorrect information regarding the ratification of death sentences. The Presidency has expressed its concern over the spread of false information and has underscored the need for transparency and truthfulness in public communications.
The Presidency also highlighted its unwavering commitment to upholding the constitution and laws, particularly regarding its constitutional responsibilities. This includes overseeing the ratification of death sentences, a process that involves a thorough examination of all related files to ensure compliance with legal procedures such as cassation, retrial, and review by the Special Pardon Committee. The Presidency assured that it approaches these matters with diligence and transparency.
