BAGHDAD: Weightlifter Ali Yasser has achieved a remarkable feat by securing nine gold medals across two prestigious weightlifting championships, the Arab and Qatar International Championships, held in Doha, Qatar, as announced by the Iraqi National Olympic Committee.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Olympic Committee detailed that Ali Ammar Yasser, competing in the +109 kg weight category, won three gold medals in the Arab Championship for the advanced category and another three in the junior category. Additionally, Yasser claimed three more gold medals in the Qatar International Championship, underscoring his dominance in the field.
The technical committee of the championships unanimously recognized Yasser’s exceptional performance by naming him the best player and awarding him a special cup. His achievements were noted for drawing significant attention, as his results positioned him ahead of all competitors.
Mohammed Kadhim Muzal, Head of the Iraqi Weightlifting Federation, expressed his deli
ght at this significant accomplishment, which adds to the sport’s history of achievements. Muzal attributed the success to effective planning by the Federation and the substantial support from the National Olympic Committee, led by Aqil Muftan and his colleagues. He emphasized that the promising talent of Ali Ammar was particularly supported, leading to these distinguished results.
