NORFOLK: The Federal Bureau of Investigation has seized 150 explosive devices from a farm in Norfolk, Virginia, marking a record number of such devices confiscated in the agency’s history. The suspect, Brad Spafford, was arrested during the operation and is facing charges related to the unregistered possession of firearms and homemade explosive devices.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the explosive devices were discovered in a backpack located in Spafford’s bedroom and in a barn on the property. The FBI also uncovered instructions for manufacturing explosive materials among Spafford’s belongings. The arrest followed a tip-off from a neighbor who reported seeing Spafford using an image of President Joe Biden for target practice with a personal weapon.

Spafford allegedly expressed views that violence could be justified as a form of political protest, claiming that the federal government is involved in kidnapping children to train them for attacks on schools. In a previous incident reported by neighbors, Spafford is said to have lost three fingers in 2021 while making an improvised explosive device.

The FBI’s operation required the destruction of most of the explosives on-site due to their instability and the risk of detonation during transport. The case highlights ongoing concerns about domestic extremism and the potential threats posed by individuals with access to explosive materials.
