BABYLON: More than 100 Lebanese refugees have commenced their return journey from Babylon to their homeland, marking the departure of the first convoy in what is expected to be a series of voluntary repatriations. The initiative is supported by the Popular Mobilization Forces in Babylon and the Iraqi government.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the official of the Popular Mobilization Forces in Babylon, Louay Al-Zamili, stated that the convoy comprised 108 Lebanese refugees who had been residing in the first and second Al-Sajjad residential complexes. Al-Zamili emphasized that the return was voluntary and highlighted efforts to facilitate the process for others wishing to return to Lebanon.

The Iraqi government is covering the costs associated with the repatriation. The initiative reflects ongoing cooperation between the Lebanese community and local authorities in Babylon, aimed at assisting refugees in their desire to return home amid changing circumstances. Registration remains open for additional
refugees who express interest in returning to Lebanon as part of this government-backed program.
