Damascus: The Syrian Ministry of Local Administration has issued a stern warning to citizens against engaging in real estate transactions with individuals linked to the Assad regime’s violent past. The ministry’s cautionary statement is aimed at preventing the purchase or sale of properties from those “involved in the blood of Syrians” during the Assad era.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ministry emphasized the importance of safeguarding property rights by avoiding contracts with individuals associated with the regime’s past practices of property theft and contract forgery. The statement highlighted the risk of contract cancellations due to such fraudulent activities.

Earlier, Muhammad Muslim, the Minister of Local Administration and Services in the Syrian caretaker government, addressed the extensive destruction across the country. Muslim noted that the ministry is actively assessing the damage as part of the reconstruction efforts. “Through the initial aerial survey of a number of destroyed areas, we recorded a massive amount of destruction in all Syrian governorates, whether in cities, villages or rural areas,” he stated. The ministry is currently in the process of conducting a comprehensive census to identify sectors requiring reconstruction, a task previously neglected by the former regime.
