Baghdad: The Minister of Electricity, Ziad Ali Fadhil, has called on his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Ali Abadi, to adhere to the contractual terms concerning the supply of gas to Iraqi production stations. This announcement came during a round of talks in Baghdad, attended by senior officials and energy experts from both nations.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the discussions centered on several key areas related to energy cooperation. The officials focused on the performance of electricity transmission lines connecting Iraq and Iran, specifically the Mersad, Karkheh, and Khorramshahr lines. Efforts to enhance these lines' efficiency and ensure their stable operation were prominent topics during the meeting.

The talks follow a recent visit by an Iraqi government delegation to Iran, which led to the relaunch of a portion of the electrical energy supplied to Iraq through these lines. The supply increased from 626 megawatts to 700 megawatts over the past two days.

The meeting also addressed the critical issue of gas supply, with the Iraqi Minister emphasizing the need for Iran to fulfill its contractual obligations. This commitment is crucial for maintaining the continuous operation of Iraqi power stations and ensuring that citizens' energy needs are met until Iraq can complete its national gas investment projects.
