Minister of Interior Aims to Strengthen Ties with UN Mission in Iraq


Baghdad: The Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, emphasized his commitment to enhancing bilateral relations between the Ministry and the United Nations Mission in Iraq. This effort aims to achieve mutual benefits for both parties.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Interior released a statement detailing a recent meeting between Minister Al-Shammari and Mohammed Al-Hassan, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI). The meeting focused on boosting cooperation and coordination, particularly in areas supporting the ministry’s security and service efforts.



Dr. Al-Hassan commended the Ministry of Interior for its accomplishments across various areas and recognized the capabilities it has developed. The Minister of Interior reiterated his intention to strengthen bilateral relations to ensure mutual interests are met and to create a conducive environment for the UN Mission’s operations.



The statement further mentioned that the Special Representative was informed about the operations of the unified emergency hotline number 911. He received a brief overview of its key duties and the services it offers to citizens, expressing approval for this initiative by the Ministry.
