New York: A UN official stated that Israeli forces continue to build military sites and fortifications in the buffer zone declared under the ceasefire agreement between Syria and Israel in 1974, and continue their incursion.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Patrick Jochat, Acting Commander of the UN peacekeeping force “UNDOF,” said that the international force informed Israel that its presence and actions violate the agreement. He emphasized that the residents of the area want the Israeli forces to “leave their villages and remove the roadblocks that hinder their agricultural work.”

Earlier, the leader of the Syrian Interim Administration, Ahmed al-Sharaa, mentioned that “Israel advanced in the buffer zone under the pretext of the presence of Iranian militias,” and that “this excuse no longer applies after the liberation of Damascus.” Following the fall of the Syrian regime, the Israeli army intensified its operations inside Syrian territory adjacent to the buffer zone in the Golan Heights, and penetrated the Syrian side of Mount Hermon.
